Welcome

Welcome to Kindergarten!

I am so excited to have your child in my class this year! Our classroom aide is Mrs. Barajas.  We have worked together for 21 years.  We look forward to working with you and your child to make this the best year!

Kindergarten is an exciting and scary time for our students! It is a time for exploring so many new things and places and a time to learn. I understand it is hard to leave your child in the care of someone else, but I am here to help your child grow and have fun!

This year we will be learning letters, sounds, and learning to read! We learn about our community and explore the world around us. We will learn to cut and paste and draw and color. We will learn how to be good students in school and how to be friends with our classmates. We will learn to be respectful, responsible, kind, and safe! And so much more!

Kindergarten is a time for exploring, and we will be exploring many things and with many types of materials. Don’t be surprised if your child comes home messier than they came to school! We paint a lot, and your child will probably get paint on their clothes! I believe that getting messy is a sign that we had a successful day!

Lori Bianchini, the other Kindergarten teacher, and I work very closely.  We create and plan our curriculum and theme units together.  Our classes often come together for various learning experiences, such as math, science, music, cooking, special guests, free choice, recess, etc. Each day your child will have numerous opportunities to interact with her class.

I set very high expectations for each and every student in my class because I KNOW that every child can succeed. I expect my students to be the very best students at Liberty School. Every day. In every way. I hope you will help by talking to your child daily about what we did at school and what we learned.  Talk to them about rules and how important it is to follow them and work hard.  Together, we can encourage your child’s success.

I ask that you read with your child every night.  Complete homework a few pages each night.  Practice sight words, numbers and counting. And give them time to play! All of this combines to give your child an excellent education. And please ensure they get lots of sleep every night because we work hard and play hard in our classroom, and we need rest!

I look forward to seeing you at Back to School Night on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at 6:00.  This is a very important night for you to attend.  You will have the opportunity to see how our class is run and all of the exciting things you and your child have to look forward to this year.

I hope you are as excited as I am to get this year off to a great start.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns! Your child’s education is a team effort, and I look forward to working with you and your child.

It’s going to be a great year in Kindergarten!

Thank you,

Melissa Sapiane
